Post-Construction Treatments

Termites “nest” in the soil and from there they can attach structures (specifically your home or business) by building shelter tubes from the soil to the wood structure.  To control termites, it is always best to use pesticides.  Pesticides used to control termites are called termiticides.  Termiticides can be applies as either liquids or a bait.  When liquids are applied, the termiticide is injected into the soil or to wood members of the structure.  When a bait system is used, the bait is placed is bait stations in the soil around the exterior perimeter of a structure.

Treatment of the soil provides a “termiticide barrier” in the soil under and adjacent to your home/building.  A continuous barrier MUST be established along the inside and outside of the foundation wall or under slabs to be effective.  Once a structure is constructed, a vertical barrier most also be established in the soil by trenching or trenching and rodding along all sides of foundation walls and pillars.  Termiticide is then applied.  Remember the best method for the control of subterranean termites is prevention.
