German Cockroach - Common household roach

Roaches are usually found in kitchens and bathrooms, but can be in any portion of a heated structure, especially near food preparation areas. They are nocturnal, meaning they are active at night.  If you see some during the day, it is a sure sign that a bigger population exists.

They thrive on the same food humans eat and pollute human food in the process of their feeding.   They are also fond of starchy foods like cereal, sugary substances and meat products.  The larger roaches will also chew on paper products damaging/destroying them in the process.

They don’t cause damage to property but cause us (humans) great damage.  They transmit numerous diseases.  Different forms of gastroenteritis (food poisoning, dysentery, diarrhea, etc.) are the principal diseases transmitted by cockroaches. These disease-causing organisms are carried on the legs and bodies of cockroaches, as well as the sticky pads of its feet, and are deposited on food and utensils as cockroaches forage.  A host of studies recognize cockroaches and their byproducts as strong indoor allergenic agents. Since the prevalence of asthma in children has been increasing steadily over the years, the need to control cockroaches is more important than ever.
